Africa race plans still hanging in the balance

F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali said that bringing a race to Africa is still ongoing, but certain guarantees are needed before moving forward. These guarantees include investment for the local community, better infrastructure, and long-term economic support. Rwanda and South Africa are both interested, and Kyalami and Cape Town are possible locations. Domenicali also talked about the success of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, which F1 now manages, and believes it could be a model for future races in Africa.

Ex-FIA deputy president exposes FIA power games and backlash

Robert Reid resigned as FIA deputy president of sport because he was frustrated with how the organization was being run under President Mohammed Ben Sulayem. Reid's decision followed his increasing isolation within the FIA after speaking out about what he saw as the erosion of fundamental principles, including being barred from meetings and having his work email shut down. He criticized the FIA's move to take over World Rallycross Championship management, warning it could lead to legal complications.

Drugovich steps in for De Vries at Berlin E-Prix

Felipe Drugovich will race in Formula E for the first time this summer as he fills in Nyck de Vries' spot at the Berlin E-Prix. De Vries can't race because he has another event at the World Endurance Championship on the same weekend. Drugovich, who won the F2 title in 2022, hasn't raced in a single-seater championship since then but has tested for Maserati. This will be his first race with Mahindra, who has had a strong start to the season.
