Oscar Piastri set the fastest time in Bahrain during Free Practice 2 ahead of his McLaren teammate, Lando Norris and the Mercedes of George Russell
After an interesting first free practice session at the Bahrain Grand Prix, the general consensus was that the grip at the circuit was not ideal. Lando Norris topped the session ahead of the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton. Max Verstappen was visibly struggling with his Red Bull and didn't seem to be feeling comfortable in the car. Kimi Antonelli was ony able to get three laps in after he suffered a mechanical failure early on in the session. FP1 also saw numerous rookies take to the track with Ryo Hirakawa now driving for Haas, Luke Browning driving for Williams, Dino Beganovic driving for Ferrari, Felipe Drugovich driving for Aston Martin, Frederik Vesti driving for Mercedes and lastly, Ayumu Iwasa driving for Red Bull. With the grid back to it's regular drivers, see what happened in the second free practice session:
- Williams was fined 7,500 euros for the situation between Alex Albon and Luke Browning
- Alex Albon unintentionally impeded his temporary teammate, Luke Browning, in Free Practice 1
- Once again, the McLaren drivers are occupying the top two spots with Oscar Piastri setting the fastest time and Lando Norris following closely behind
- Isack hadjar nearly had a moment on track with Nico Hulkenberg
- The young driver almost made contact with the veteran with both of the drivers getting angry on the radio
- Fernando Alonso had an interesting moment where he took the steering wheel off the car as it was still on track
- Max Verstappen definitely seemed to struggle and was on the radio complaining about the balance and the shaking of the car
- Kimi Antonelli was able to get back out on track after missing out on the majority of FP1
- He finished the session in P5 ahead of Isack Hadjar
- Oscar Piastri topped Free Practice 2 ahead of his McLaren teammate, Lando Norris and the Mercedes of George Russell
