F1 legend Eddie Jordan has passed away at the age of 76. McLaren won’t alter wing despite FIA clampdown

McLaren has stated that it doesn't need to make any changes to its 2025 car despite the FIA's sudden clampdown on flexible rear wings. The FIA tightened the tests for flexing rear wings after analysis in Melbourne, reducing the tolerance of slot gap movement from 2mm to 0.75mm for the Chinese GP and 0.5mm moving forward. While Red Bull suspects McLaren of using "mini-DRS" tricks, McLaren maintains that its rear wing would have passed the new tests and hasn't changed since the start of the season. Lando Norris added that McLaren is not pushing the limits enough and that the rule change likely targets other teams, not them.

F1 could scrap plans for sustainable

Formula 1 is set to end its current 2014-2025 hybrid V6 era and shift to more electrified turbo V6 engines. However, a backup plan is being discussed, with the possibility of delaying the 2026 engine regulations and instead introducing sustainable fuel-powered V10s in 2028. Some teams believe the 2026 regulations are too ambitious and could compromise safety, as cars may run at lower speeds to recover energy. Red Bull and Ferrari support the V10 idea, while Honda, Audi, and Mercedes oppose delaying the 2026 engines and suggest a three-year transition before V10s are introduced.

Key moments from Jordan’s career

Formula 1 is mourning the loss of Eddie Jordan, a beloved and unforgettable figure in the sport. Eddie founded Jordan Grand Prix in 1991, and his team gave significant breaks to drivers like Michael Schumacher, Rubens Barrichello, and Eddie Irvine. Notable moments in his career include discovering Schumacher, the first-ever Irish anthem played in F1 in 1999, and a historic one-two finish at Spa in 1998. Eddie's legacy is also marked by his fight against prostate cancer, raising awareness, and his influence in F1, from predicting major moves like Lewis Hamilton’s switch to Mercedes to negotiating Adrian Newey’s move to Aston Martin.
