Oscar Piastri dominated the Grand Prix in Bahrain ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell and his teammate, Lando Norris
It is finally time for the Grand Prix at the Bahrain International Circuit. Oscar Piastri will start the race on pole ahead of Charles Leclerc and George Russell. Both of the Mercedes drivers, Kimi Antonelli and George Russell received a grid penalty, promoting Charles Leclerc and Pierre Gasly up one position on the start grid. Max Verstappen was struggling in his Red Bull all weekend long, complaining of different things that have prevented him for performing at his best. Nico Hulkenberg had a lap time deleted in Q2 which demoted him to P16 and promoted Alex Albon up into P15. One of the main issues this weekend has been the drivers finding grip on the track. See what happened in the race:
- Oscar Piastri started the race on pole position ahead of Charles Leclerc and George Russell
- The Australian held onto his lead going into the first lap
- Max Verstappen had a very slow pit stop early on in the race, keeping him further away from Lando Norris who he was actively chasing down
- Ferrari have been looking strong throughout the race with Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc both running within the top five and participating in some strong on track battles
- Lando Norris received a five second time penalty early on in the race for a start infringement
- Norris was noted for a false start after beginning the race outside of his grid position
- Isack Hadjar received the Black and White flag for track limits
- The grip on track was creating many issues for the drivers
- Yuki Tsunoda and Carlos Sainz made contact, causing carbon fibre to fall onto the track resulting in a safety car being deployed
- Piastri, Russell, Leclerc, Norris and Hamilton all got lucky with the timing and were able to pit under the safety car without losing as much time
- Tsunoda and Sainz were fighting on track again and made contact once again, this time with less debris falling on track
- Liam Lawson received a five second time penalty for making contact with Lance Stroll
- Carlos Sainz received a ten second time penalty for forcing another driver off the track
- Sainz and Antonelli were in a fight on track after the safety car reset, resulting in Sainz pushing Antonelli off track and receiving a penalty for the move
- Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc were locked in a battle for third position with Norris prevailing
- Oscar Piastri claimed the win in Bahrain ahead of George Russell and Lando Norris
Nico Hulkenberg was disqualified from the Bahrain Grand Prix for excessive skid wear on the floor of his car.
