Alpine promotes Maini to fourth reserve driver
Alpine has added Kush Maini to its test and reserve driver lineup for the 2025 F1 season. The 24-year-old from India will race in Formula 2 with DAMS while also testing old F1 cars for Alpine. He's the team's fourth reserve driver as he joins Franco Colapinto, Paul Aron, and Ryo Hirakawa as backup options for Jack Doohan and Pierre Gasly. Maini is excited for the role but is currently focused on his F2 season, which starts this weekend in Australia.

Key rule changes for the 2025 season
The 2025 Formula 1 season will feature key rule changes, including stricter tests on front and rear wings to prevent excessive flexing and new driver cooling systems for high-temperature races. A 2kg increase in minimum driver weight raises the total car weight to 800kg, with an additional 5kg allowance for cooling equipment in extreme heat. The fastest lap point has been removed, and Monaco now mandates two-stop races with penalties for non-compliance. Other updates include tighter restrictions on testing previous cars, stricter rules on damaged cars, and the removal of gearbox usage limits.

How Cadillac will select its debut driver lineup
Cadillac F1 team boss Graeme Lowdon said their 2026 driver lineup will be based on merit, meaning an American driver could have a chance. Since Cadillac joined late, many top drivers have already signed with other teams, but Lowdon still sees strong options like Sergio Perez, Valtteri Bottas, and Zhou Guanyu. He knows Zhou well but promises there will be no favoritism—every driver must earn their spot. IndyCar star Colton Herta is a popular name, but he doesn’t have enough FIA Super Licence points to qualify for F1 right now.
