After an intense sprint race... Find out who was able to put it on pole for Sunday's Grand Prix
It was a quick turnaround between the end of the sprint and the start of qualifying. Find out which drivers and teams are looking strong for Sunday's Grand Prix:
- Q1 saw the shock elimination of Lewis Hamilton after he pushed too hard on and locked up on his final lap
- Yuki Tsunoda had a disappointing qualifying finishing the session in 19th
- Unfortunately, the home hero, Guanyu Zhou was only able to put his car in 16th on the grid
- With 6 minutes left in Q2, Carlos Sainz went into the gravel and spun his car into the barriers bringing out the red flag
- The session resumed and we saw both of the Alpines being eliminated
- Valtteri Bottas pushed out Lance Stroll to take P10 on the grid tomorrow
- Ferrari was able to repair Carlos' car which allowed him to get into Q3
- Q3 was very close between the top four with Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri, Sergio Perez and Fernando Alonso switching between who would take P2
- Max Verstappen claimed pole position which ended up being Red Bull's 100th pole position since they joined Formula 1
