Oscar Piastri secured pole position in Bahrain ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell and the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc
The drivers are set for qualifying at the Bahrain International Grand Prix to fight for pole position. McLaren are looking like the favorites going into this session with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri both leading all of the practice sessions so far. Red Bull is looking to be on the back foot this weekend with Max Verstappen complaining of problems with the car and Yuki Tsunoda struggling with grip and making sure his times don't get deleted. Both of the Alpine drivers have been looking comfortable this weekend and it will be interesting to see the performance they're able to put together in qualifying. Q1
- Max Verstappen was heard on the radio, complaining that 'something is really wrong with the car'
- The Red Bull driver has been on the back foot the whole weekend, not being able to maximize the performance out of the car
- Yuki Tsunoda was putting in solid times, but the Japanese driver exceeded track limits resulting in a time deletion
- After some very impressive qualifying results so far, Alex Albon had a disappointing performance and was only able to put his Williams in P16
- Ollie Bearman struggled in his Haas and will start in P20 on the grid
- Liam Lawson wasn't able to put a solid lap together and put his Racing Bull in P17 ahead of the Stake of Gabriel Bortoleto
Q2
- With 11 minutes left in Q2, Esteban Ocon had a big shunt and crashed his Haas at Turn 3
- This resulted in the session being red flagged as the marshals had to clear away Ocon's car
- Kimi Antonelli struggled in FP1 after suffering some technical problems but the young driver didn't let that stop him
- Antonelli made it into Q3, putting in a very impressive performance
- Jack Doohan made it into Q2 and had a successful qualifying run but was unlucky with the early red flag
- The young Australian will start in P11 for the Grand Prix
- Fernando Alonso struggled and was only able to put his Aston Martin in P14, telling his team on the radio that there wasn't any more pace for him to find
- Nico Hulkenberg's time got deleted at the last minute, putting the Stake driver in P15 on the grid
Q3
- Max Verstappen was heard on the radio saying that his brakes weren't working
- The Red Bull driver has been struggling with the car all weekend long
- Pierre Gasly had an outstanding performance to get his Alpine into Q3
- The Alpine driver put his car in P5 ahead of his teammate, Jack Doohan, who put his car in P11
- Oscar Piastri claimed pole position ahead of George Russell and Charles Leclerc
