Perez’s future to be decided in post-season meeting

Sergio Perez’s future at Red Bull will be decided after the 2024 season ends in a meeting with the team’s shareholders. Perez had another poor race in Las Vegas, getting knocked out in Q1 and finishing 10th with just one point. Even though he has a contract until 2026, Red Bull’s Helmut Marko said Perez’s position is not guaranteed. With options like Yuki Tsunoda and Liam Lawson and interest in Franco Colapinto, Perez’s spot at Red Bull is uncertain.

People at Red Bull 'don't like Bottas'

Valtteri Bottas is set to leave the F1 grid at the end of the season after being dropped by the Stake squad, which will sign Gabriel Bortoleto alongside Nico Hulkenberg.  He said he won’t join Red Bull because some people in the team don’t like him. He confirmed that discussions about Red Bull's lineup will take place after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, with Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda among the potential candidates. Bottas also expressed interest in a drive with General Motors' new F1 team, expected to join in 2026.

Verstappen boasts he'd have won 2021 and 2024 titles with other teams

Max Verstappen thinks he would have won the 2023 F1 title earlier if he was driving for McLaren and could have won the 2021 championship with Mercedes. He won his fourth title in Las Vegas, even though Red Bull wasn’t performing well at times this season. Verstappen feels his achievements are not fully appreciated, especially his 10 straight wins in 2023, despite not always having the fastest car. He also said winning with Ferrari in 2022 or another team in 2023 would have been harder.

Does the Las Vegas GP need a reshuffle?

A new F1 team with General Motors could join in 2026, with Andretti Global becoming a GM team. Meanwhile, Brad Pitt's film crew faced major logistical challenges, filming scenes on the Las Vegas circuit and even running cars at night. The weekend was a tough one for drivers, juggling late-night duties and jet lag, with George Russell even taking a nap before his pole position. However, for Sergio Perez, the future at Red Bull looks uncertain, as Helmut Marko hinted at potential changes for 2025 due to his performance gap with Max Verstappen.

Lessons from Las Vegas GP

Max Verstappen secured his fourth world title at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, finishing fifth, while Mercedes dominated the weekend, with George Russell claiming victory and Lewis Hamilton recovering from a poor qualifying to finish second. Verstappen’s strong but calculated performance helped extinguish Lando Norris’s faint title hopes. Mercedes capitalized on cool conditions, which suited their car and allowed them to maintain an edge in tire performance. Meanwhile, F1 is set to welcome an 11th team with General Motors and Andretti, as well as a technical rule change regarding skid blocks after teams exploited a loophole.
