There are very few spots each year for new drivers, and teams pick based on things like marketing and sponsors. Even with all these challenges and high costs, many young drivers still chase their F1 dreams, which makes the industry worth over $3.6 billion each year.

Pirelli faces testing challenges with 2026 rules

Pirelli says it's "impossible" to build test cars for the sport's new 2026 rules. These rules include narrower wheels and active aerodynamics, which makes previous testing methods with modified cars inadequate. Pirelli will now rely heavily on simulations until real 2026 cars are available for testing.
