Leclerc took the win at COTA while Norris and Verstappen battled it out on track

After an eventful Saturday where Max Verstappen claimed the victory for the sprint, Lando Norris took pole position for the Grand Prix, and George Russell crashed in qualifying, the drivers took to the track for the race. The sun was out in Austin making the conditions perfect for some close on-track action. See what happened in the session:

• Lando Norris started on pole ahead of Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz
• Verstappen had a better start than Norris and pushed him off track slightly which left room for Leclerc and Sainz to get past Norris
• Lewis Hamilton beached his Mercedes at Turn 19 in the gravel trap on lap 3 of the Grand Prix after making up lots of spots and having a great start
  • This brought out the Safety Car
  • After the safety car, the top five were as follows: Leclerc, Verstappen, Sainz, Norris, Piastri
• On Lap 8, Carlos Sainz had to radio his team and let them know that he was losing power on the corners and the car was smelling like fuel
• George Russell was given a five second penalty on Lap 16 for forcing Valtteri Bottas off the track
• It took Sergio Perez until Lap 38 to get past the Williams of Franco Colapinto
  • Colapinto finally pitted on Lap 40 of the race
• Yuki Tsunoda had a spin at Turn 1 which brought out the yellow flags briefly
• Alex Albon had a tough race and was only able to finish in P16
• Oscar Piastri had a somewhat uneventful race and held on to P5 until the finish
• Lando Norris had exceeded his track limits warning numerous times during his battle with Max Verstappen
• Norris overtook Verstappen off the track which resulted in a five second penalty for him
  • Verstappen finished in P3 and Norris finished in P4
• Liam Lawson finished in P9, bringing home points for VCARB
  • Tsunoda finished in P14 after struggling on track
• Franco Colapinto finished ahead of his teammate and was able to secure the last point to come home in P10
• Esteban Ocon secured the fastest lap but wasn't rewarded a point as he finished in P18
• Charles Leclerc claimed victory ahead of Carlos Sainz and Max Verstappen
