The drivers took to the track for the only practice session of the weekend... See who topped the timesheets
The end of the this triple header is a sprint race weekend where the drivers will only get one practice session. The Autódromo José Carlos Pace has recently been resurfaced which adds an element of surprise for the drivers as they readjust to the new tarmac. As this is the only practice session of the weekend, see who is looking strong and who struggled out on track:
- The Mexican Grand Prix left a few of the drivers ill as Fernando Alonso missed the media day on Thursday due to feeling unwell and now Oliver Bearman will replace Kevin Magnussen today as he is also under the weather
- The track was recently resurfaced which can make it difficult for the drivers to get adequate grip
- Lewis Hamilton is sporting the Brazilian flag on his crash helmet in honor of Aryton Senna and paying homage to all of his Brazilian fans
- Max Verstappen is set for a grid penalty for the Brazilian Grand Prix after taking a new internal combustion engine (ICE)
- Yuki Tsunoda had a big moment where he locked out his tires and ran wide but he was able to recover it and stay on track
- Mercedes is looking strong out on track as George Russell was setting the fastest sectors and Lewis Hamilton was lingering near the top of the timesheets early on in the session as well
- This is where George Russell took his maiden win in 2022
- Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou continue to struggle in the Sauber as the two are consistently at the bottom of the timesheets
- Lewis Hamilton was on the radio asking his engineer how much time they had left in the session as he claims he is in a little bit of pain
- Ollie Bearman, who is driving for Kevin Magnussen who is unwell, finished the session in P3
- Lando Norris topped the session ahead of George Russell and Oliver Bearman
