With the 2024 Dutch GP at Zandvoort underway, Pit Lane and FanAmp want you to switch the red lights to green because we're lights out and away we take a look at special helmets from Nico Hulkenberg and Dutchman Max Verstappen!

Say goodbye to the summer break—the second half of the Formula 1 season lands in Zandvoort for the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix! While Hülkenberg is the only driver on the grid to unveil his special helmet, the lion for Red Bull Racing—Max Verstappen—has one too many one-off designs to show his love for his home race. Here are our top five favorite helmets from the Dutch Grand Prix, all year round.

Nico Hulkenberg

The German driver for Haas will be sporting a special helmet for the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix—a one-off design on his gear shows support for the Dutch foundation, Lymph&Co. The predominantly white helmet is splattered with seemingly orange-and-red paint, the Haas team logo and an abbreviation of his name: ‘HLKNBRG.’ With the foundation committing to lymphoma research, Hülkenberg partnered with Prince Bernhard van Oranje to auction his helmet after the race.

Throwback! Max Verstappen 2023

Zandvoort is the home race for the reigning world champion—so no doubt, his special helmet designs would be one of a kind. Incorporating red, white, and blue as his country’s flag into his helmet, it isn’t Verstappen to not include the roaring lion logo synonymously related to him on it. The white-coloured lion decorated the top of his helmet, layered right above the red, white, and blue colors of the Netherlands.

Throwback! Max Verstappen 2022

Red Bull Racing was right, Verstappen’s one-off helmet for the 2022 Dutch Grand Prix is indeed a ‘modern take on a Verstappen classic.’ As a tribute for his—also a racer —father, Jos Verstappen, the Red Bull driver took inspiration from his father’s helmet colours: navy, white, and maroon. In Verstappen’s take for his helmet, he turned his father’s colors up a notch by bringing a lighter vibe to them—showcasing colour and design so similar to the Red Bull logo. Obviously, not forgetting the red lion logo atop his helmet and the team’s logo plastered on the sides of his visor.

Throwback! Max Verstappen 2021

For some reason, we love Verstappen’s 2021 Dutch Grand Prix helmet! Unlike the usual where the Dutch driver opts for colours that resemble him, this special design features vibrant and electrifying shades of red, white, and blue!

Throwback! Max Verstappen Orange Tribute Helmet

Earlier this year, it was said that Verstappen would be using his orange tribute helmet for five different races: the Spanish, Austrian, Belgian, Italian, and Dutch Grands Prix. We’re pretty sure that the three-time World Champion would announce something for his home race, but now, it’s time to give his orange tribute helmet recognition! Featuring a vibrant orange color scheme—the helmet is a tribute to honour his fans and father. Jos Verstappen donned a similar palette during the 2000 Canadian Grand Prix, altering the color of his helmet to suit the Dutch football team during the 2000 European Football Championship.
