The weather was unrelenting! See who claimed the victory at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve
The rain hit in spurts and teams struggled to keep control. The end result was a gripping race start-to-finish with an excellent finish. Here's what you need to know:
- Logan Sargeant spun out early in the race and was unable to restart his engine
- All drivers pitted for intermediate tires except for Charles Leclerc who sat in the pit lane for too long as his pit crew put on hards. Combined with engine trouble, this proed to be race-ending
- Sergio Perez also lost control of his car, spinning into the barrier and damaging his rear wing. He was able to drive back to the garage but the damage was too severe, forcing his retirement
- Carlos Sainz hit a wet spot and spun into Alex Albon. The Williams driver nearly avoided a collision but couldn't sneak past the Ferrari and both of their races came to a close prematurely
- George Russell and Lewis Hamilton had a close fight for third position during the last five laps, with George ultimately coming a head despite Lewis setting the fastest lap of the race
- After a tight battle, Max Verstappen claimed the victory ahead of Lando Norris in P2 and George Russell in P3. While George started on pole, some difficult situations cost him the race win
