After three red flags in FP1, the drivers finally had a long enough session to test their tires and get a feel of the Baku City Circuit... See who is looking strong in Azerbaijan
The drivers took to the track after an exciting FP1. Two drivers had crashed, one driver experienced hydraulic issues and there were numerous yellow flags. See what happened in the second free practice session of the Grand Prix weekend:
- Charles Leclerc and Franco Colapinto were able to run in FP2 after their teams both fixed up their cars following the crashes in FP1
- Esteban Ocon was also able to drive in FP2 after experiencing hydraulic issues during the first free practice session
- George Russell was delayed coming out of the pits after Mercedes had to complete a precautionary engine change
- Max Verstappen had a close call with the barrier but was able to keep his car out of the wall
- Franco Colapinto brushed the walls with 17 minutes left
- Luckily, it didn't damage the car or cause any disruption to the session
- Ollie Bearman has had two very impressive free practice sessions
- In FP1, Bearman finished in P11 while Hulkenberg finished in P12
- In FP2, the young Brit finished in P10 while Hulkenberg finished in P8
- Ayao Komatsu stated that Bearman's performance thus far has been very impressive to watch
- Charles Leclerc topped the session ahead of Sergio Perez and Lewis Hamilton
