After an eventful FP1, the drivers headed back out on track for the second Free Practice Session... See who finished at the top of the timesheets
After a rainy first free practice session, the drivers were able to come out on track for FP2 and set some more times. See who topped the timesheets for the second free practice session:
- The track had dried up from the earlier session which allowed the drivers to get some laps in on the soft, mediums and hards
- The drivers had to manage large gusts of wind which was ultimately throwing off their balance
- Nico Hulkenberg brought out the red flag after he put his Haas into the wall near Turn 1
- Carlos Sainz had a gear box issue which ended his session prematurely and prevented him from getting to test the soft tires out on track
- Valtteri Bottas is back in his car and making up for lost time after Robert Shwartzman took over in FP1
- There were two unsafe releases that were noted by the stewards:
- Albon and Stroll
- Ricciardo and Zhou
- George Russell looked strong during FP1 and FP2
- He had a run in with a gravel trap, but was able to recover from it and has been running in the top five for the entirety of the sessions
