Emilia Romagna Grand Prix FP1 Results

After a unfortunate cancellation due to heavy flooding in the Emilia Romagna region, we are back at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari with the first practice session. Here's what happened:

Nico Hulkenberg made his debut in Imola. Not a sentence you'd expect to see, but it's true. He never raced at this track in his entire motorsports career
Alex Albon red flagged the session with a technical issue (engine failure) after nearly 20 minutes, pulling over to the side of the track with limited disruption
Rookie Ollie Bearman jumped in to the car in place of Kevin Magnussen for one of Haas's mandated rookie drives. The team praised him on the radio for "doing a good job" during the session
Several drivers including Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen went wide on the track after taking corners quickly and hitting the kerbs
