Hawkins becomes first female test driver in five years

Jessica Hawkins, a former W Series racer and Aston Martin driver ambassador, became the first woman in nearly five years to test a Formula 1 car, completing 26 laps in the 2021 Aston Martin car at the Hungaroring near Budapest. She shared driving duties with test and reserve driver Felipe Drugovich. The last woman to test an F1 car was Tatiana Calderon in October 2018, while the last woman to compete in a practice session was Susie Wolff in 2015. Hawkins expressed her pride in her performance and her desire to inspire other women to pursue their dreams in motorsport. F1 and DHL make gains with biofuel trucks

Formula 1 reported an 83% reduction in carbon emissions for its European races in 2023, thanks to DHL's new biofuel-powered truck fleet, aligning with the sport's goal to become Net Zero Carbon by 2030. In 2019, Formula 1 emitted 256,551 tons of carbon, but they've since implemented eco-friendly measures, including remote broadcasting, efficient freight containers, and renewable energy adoption. DHL's 18 biofuel trucks covered over 10,600 km per race without compromising performance, equipped with GPS for fuel optimization. This eco-friendly initiative will extend beyond 2023, supporting Formula 1's journey toward sustainability. The sport also plans to introduce hybrid engines and sustainable fuel in the 2026 season.

Vettel in talks with Jota team for WEC drive

Jota team principal Sam Hignett has confirmed that they have approached Sebastian Vettel about joining their two-car Hypercar class assault on the WEC in 2024 with Porsche 963 LMDh prototypes. However, discussions are still in the early stages, and no contract has been signed, nor has Vettel tested their cars. Vettel, who retired from F1 in 2022, has not ruled out a comeback but is not considering a return to F1 in the near future. Jota emphasized that they do not need funded drivers for their second car, which will be backed by Hertz, highlighting their environmental commitment as part of their pitch to Vettel. They are currently in discussions with a "long list of drivers," including Jenson Button and Robert Kubica, as they plan their two-car Hypercar assault for 2024.
