The moon was out as the drivers hit the strip for their second free practice of the weekend. Find out which drivers looked strong out on track
We are back on track with the drivers as Free Practice two got underway! The moon was out, the track was getting colder and the tensions were high. Find out who looked strong during FP2 in Las Vegas:
- It was announced that Valtteri Bottas will be taking a 5-place grid penalty for the Grand Prix because he took a new Energy Store for his car
- All of the drivers started the session with medium tires and tested out the grip as the temperatures cooled even more out on track
- Verstappen had another moment out on track where he ran straight off in Turn 14
- Free Practice 1 was the first time that Franco Colapinto and Liam Lawson have ever taken to the track here in Las Vegas
- Lawson struggled in FP1 and was bottom of the timesheet and Colapinto only finished in P17
- Alex Albon was delayed coming out on to track as he was saying he had an issue with the car
- Apparently it was an issue with the fuel system
- Unfortunately for Williams, Alex Albon stopped on track after just getting out of the pits
- This brought out the Red Flag with 22 minutes left in the session
- The Red Flag only lasted a few minutes and the session was resumed with 17 minutes left in the session
- Pierre Gasly was looking strong in his Alpine following a series of positive results
- Alpine claimed a double podium in Brazil with Esteban Ocon finishing in P2 behind Max Verstappen and Pierre Gasly finishing in P3
- Pierre Gasly, as it currently stands, hasn't cost his team, Alpine, any money in damage repairs to the car
- He is the only driver to not have cost his team any money this season so far
- Red Bull didn't have much of a result at the end of Free Practice 2
- Max Verstappen finished in P17 and Sergio Perez finished in P19
- Lewis Hamilton topped the session ahead of Lando Norris and George Russell
