See which drivers are looking strong ahead of the weekend and who is struggling on track
Teams rushed back on the track for the second practice session of the race weekend. Here's what happened:
- Max Verstappen was quick to radio with brake challenges. His early lap time lagged teammate Sergio Perez
- The heat was on, literally. The session started under intense sun, with track temperatures exceeding the predicted levels for Qualifying
- Charles Leclerc clipped the wall at the exit of turn 4 after fighting with the car. The visible damage was minimal given the speed of the crash, but only time will tell how much work is needed to be race ready for Saturday
- The red flag caused by the Ferrari ate into the session and gave teams time to adjust set ups for the final laps
- Track limits were the talk of the session. Narrow gravel traps dotted the corners and would splash onto the track when drivers ran wide
- Oscar Piastri damaged his floor at turn 4, forcing the team to work through repairs at the end of the session
- Haas's Kevin Magnussen, set to leave the team at the end of the season, finished in P6, but it was McLaren's Lando Norris who topped the timesheet
