Piastri claims the victory despite Leclerc starting on pole

Oscar Piastri claimed the victory in Baku ahead of Charles Leclerc and George Russell after a crazy last lap crash

Recap:

  • Pierre Gasly was later disqualified from qualifying which meant that he had to start the race from P18 (last place)
  • Zhou Guanyu received a penalty for changing power units and had to start the race from P17
  • Lewis Hamilton and Esteban Ocon also changed elements to their car so they had to start from the pit lane
  • Charles Leclerc started on pole ahead of Oscar Piastri and Carlos Sainz
  • Leclerc was able to hold his position for the start of the race
  • Lance Stroll got a puncture on the first lap, causing him to pit and fall down the ranks into P20
  • Yuki Tsunoda retired on lap 16 after making contact with Lance Stroll on lap 1
