Hamilton unsettled by Saudi GP

Lewis Hamilton expressed unease about racing in Saudi Arabia, distancing himself from other Formula One drivers who felt comfortable returning. He carefully conveyed his stance, emphasizing that the sport should raise awareness and address human rights issues. Human rights charity Reprieve mentioned that at least 13 executions had occurred in Saudi Arabia in the past two weeks.

Red Bull on the situation: “Max has been suffering from a stomach illness over the past few days and, with the agreement of the FIA, will not be present at track today.”

Haas F1 Team speaks out amid parent company's Russian business allegations

Haas F1 Team denied allegations that its parent company, Haas Automation, violated sanctions and conducted business with the Russian arms industry after the invasion of Ukraine. PBS reported that Haas Automation made at least 18 shipments to Russia between March and October last year. However, Haas stated that they terminated their relationship with Abamet Management, their sole distributor for Russia and Belarus, in March 2022 and haven't sold or shipped anything to Russia since. The company claims full compliance with U.S. export control. The situation could potentially impact the Haas F1 Team if Haas Automation faces trouble.

The odd Faldo-Schumacher F1 test deal

Eddie Jordan had to negotiate with golfer Nick Faldo to secure Michael Schumacher's first F1 test at Silverstone in 1991. The track was booked by Faldo, who agreed to share track time with Schumacher. In return, Jordan let Faldo try the F1 car, but fitting the tall golfer into the small car proved challenging. Years later, Faldo called Jordan to confirm if it was indeed Schumacher's first time in an F1 car.
