Mexican Grand Prix FP1 Results

Find out which teams are looking strong and which rookies performed well for their first FP1 appearance

It was a session full of rookie drivers and and plenty of fan service. Here's what happened:

  • Drivers took the opening lap of the session at a slower pace in order to greet the fans who had packed the grandstands eagerly awaiting the race weekend to begin. It was a spectacle they repeated more than once, each time to roaring cheers
  • Pato O’Ward ran the session in Lando Norris’s car
  • Ferrari rookie driver Ollie Bearman and Alex Albon collided when Albon’s car lost control around a corner. Bearman came to a halt while Albon spun uncontrollably until he collided with a barrier. The force was enough to trigger the medical car and red flag the session
  • Max Verstappen lost power and went into the pits with five minutes left in the session. He risks a penalty if he needs a replacement
  • Felipe Drugovich wasn't feeling comfortable with the car and also pitted
  • Robert Shwartzman, running for Stake F1, went off the track near the end of the session but was able to recover and avoid issues
