It was a quick turnaround for the teams to prepare their drivers for qualifying... See who claimed pole position for the race on Sunday
The drivers took to the track for the qualifying session that would set the grid for the grand prix on Sunday. See who claimed pole and who will start the race at the back of the grid:
- Q1 saw the elimination of both the Williams drivers with Alex Albon finishing in P16 and Logan Sargeant in P19
- Lance Stroll was unable to make it into Q2 after putting his Aston Martin in P17 for the race on Sunday
- Both of the Stake F1 drivers were also eliminated in Q1 with Valtteri Bottas taking P18 and Guanyu Zhou claiming P20 on the grid
- Both of the VCARB drivers were eliminated with Daniel Ricciardo just missing out on Q3 to finish the session in P11 and Yuki Tsunoda finishing in P14
- Aston Martin are really struggling despite bringing upgrades
- Fernando Alonso was only able to put his Aston Martin in P15
- Once again, Kevin Magnussen was out-qualified by his teammate, Nico Hulkenberg who finished the session in P9 while Magnussen will start the Grand Prix in P12
- Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon didn't have new tires because they used them in the Sprint
- This gives them a disadvantage as they're fighting drivers who have fresher tires in comparison to them
- Max Verstappen claimed pole ahead of Lando Norris and George Russell
