Racing resumes this weekend at Zandvoort. As we dive back into F1 Fantasy, here's the news you need to know.
Upgrade Watch
On Thursday, several teams announced upgrades:
- Ferrari plan to introduce a new floor, in an effort to correct the bouncing issues caused by an upgrade package introduced at the Spanish Grand Prix. If effective, this package could vault Ferrari back into regular podium contention.
- During media day, Lando Norris teased “some upgrades” on the MCL38 as they fight to stay at the top of the field.
- Mercedes introduced an ambitious upgrade package at Spa, only to strip the upgrades off the W15 and run the Silverstone spec. The team are confident that they understand the lessons from Free Practice at Spa and plan to reintroduce those changes this weekend.
Weather Update (Thursday Evening)
The most recent forecast indicates some rain on Saturday, but it is currently unclear if it will affect Qualifying. A wet Qualifying could provide some surprises, and on a low overtake circuit the Final Fix chip may be the only recourse if a top driver starts low on the grid. Fortunately, a cool and sunny Grand Prix await the drivers on Sunday.
Pirelli Tire Report
The banked corners of this circuit place massive stress on the tires and a two-stop strategy remains the most popular approach. With at least four pit stop opportunities, Red Bull remain the most likely team to earn the Fastest Pit Stop award.
McLaren typically run a high-downforce setup, which expects to perform well at a circuit with few straights. Continue to run any McLaren assets with confidence.
