Mazepin cleared for F1 return as EU lifts sanctions

Nikita Mazepin’s potential return to Formula 1 seems more likely as European Union sanctions against him have been lifted. He was dropped by Haas and faced travel issues due to EU sanctions related to his father’s ties with Vladimir Putin. Recently, the EU removed his name from the sanctions list, along with Violetta Prigozhina, the mother of a deceased Wagner group leader. Others on the list still have travel bans, frozen assets, and payment restrictions.

Alpine's nightmare weekend continues with Esteban Ocon power issue

Esteban Ocon’s weekend has been troubled with an MGU-H failure in the first practice, which required an engine swap. He stalled during the third practice, and it caused a red flag.

Guanyu hit with 20-place grid penalty for using unauthorized components

Zhou Guanyu has been given a 20-place grid penalty for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix because he used unauthorized power unit parts. He used a third Energy Store and a third Control Electronics, which led to a 10-place penalty for each, adding up to 20 places. As a result, Guanyu will start from the back of the grid, which is a big setback for Sauber, who hasn’t scored any points this season. This makes it even harder for them to compete and get a good result in the race.
