A style rundown from Pit Lane - from special livery to helmets to race suits and fashion from every race weekend.

With the 2024 Mexican GP at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez underway, Pit Lane and FanAmp want you to switch the red lights to green because we're lights out and away we go to take a look at special liveries and helmets from McLaren, Ferrari, AND MORE.

It’s the second week of the triple-header race weekend, and we’re racing at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez for the Mexico City Grand Prix—home to the grid’s Sergio ‘Checo’ Pérez, and the circuit where Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing reigns. We’ve compiled this weekend’s special designs, from Williams’ special livery to remarkable one-off helmet designs.

Williams - Special Livery

Williams unveiled a one-off livery for the Mexico City Grand Prix—adding a tribute to their history by running a predominantly yellow colour. Their new sponsor Mercado Libre’s yellow branding is draped on their engine cover, synonymous with their ‘speed, trust and innovation’ identity. After 36 long years since they last sported the colour, the yellow livery holds a special place in William’s history—now, returning to the track as the team’s Fw46!

Franco Colapinto - Special Williams Helmet

As the newest addition to the F1 grid, Franco Colapinto has been showing nothing but a promising path ahead of him—especially, after he successfully secured a point during last weekend’s United States Grand Prix! In this Mexican Grand Prix, the Argentine driver is sporting a one-off helmet in tribute to the late Carlos ‘Lole’ Reutemann. His helmet is more things than one—featuring symbols that have revolved around Reutemann’s career, the national colours of Argentina and the colours worn by Reutemann in the 1970s and 1980s: shades of blue, yellow, and white.

Charles Leclerc - Special Ferrari Helmet

‘México, estamos listos,’ said Leclerc—and yes, we are more than ready to see Leclerc’s special helmet at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. Leclerc being Leclerc, we can even see him dancing excitedly with his helmet! Inspired by the Mariachi outfit, he incorporated its features into a one-off design: chosen with his famed predominantly white and threads of red colours, the helmet showcases the mask Mexicans used to honour the dead.

Sergio ‘Checo’ Pérez - Special Red Bull Helmet

The inspiration behind Checo’s remarkable helmet design is worth noting—and considering it is his home race, designs for the Mexican Grand Prix will always have a special place in his heart (and ours). The special helmet interprets a wrestling mask as its design—which Checo loves most—that resonated with the designer, Marco Aguirre. With special touches of adding leaves of agave plant. Despite omitting Mexico’s flag colours of green, white, and red, Marco decided to use colours that represent Mexico instead.

Fernando Alonso - Special Aston Martin Helmet

Can we believe that it’s Alonso’s 400th race? As a tribute, he will be tracing his helmet with reminiscent photos of his twenty-one seasons and teams—from Minardo to Aston Martin. The special helmet sported by the Spanish driver will highlight his victories and World Championship titles with Renault in 2005 and 2006. Spotlighting his entire Formula 1 career into a helmet is amusing—and it’s definitely worth it after a milestone of racing since 2001!
