Where is The Formula 1 Exhibit located?

The Formula 1 Exhibit in Toronto is located at Lighthouse ArtSpace Toronto which is one of the city’s most popular exhibition locations. It is located right at 1 Yonge Street and is accessible by public transportation, car or bike.

I would recommend using public transportation as it eliminates the need to find parking. Depending on where you are coming from, the closest subway stations would be King Station or Union Station on Line 1 (Yellow line).

How to Book Tickets for the Exhibit

What to expect in the Exhibit

Historic Formula 1 Cars

Upon arriving at the exhibit, ticket holders are met with numerous racing simulators that they have the opportunity to try out, but ONLY if you purchased the corresponding ticket to do so.

There are six primary rooms that ticket holders get to explore: Once Upon A Time in Formula 1, Design Lab, Drivers & Duels, Fallen Heroes, Survival, and lastly, The Pit Wall.

Once Upon a Time in Formula 1

This is the first room you are met with when you enter the exhibit. It showcases historical Formula 1 cars as well as numerous artifacts, some of which date all the way back to the 1950s!

This room was really interesting for fans to learn more about the history of Formula 1 and gain a better understanding of how it progressed to be the sport we all know it as now.

Design Lab

This room was designed to emulate a factory and offers fans a glimpse into the technical side of Formula 1 racing. It was interesting to see how teams develop different components for the car and prepare for the coming seasons as new regulations are always being introduced. Here, fans can take a closer look at Romain Grosjean’s 2020 Haas VF-20 race car.

Drivers & Duels

This was probably my favorite room within the exhibit as it featured a large collection of historic memorabilia such as the wall of helmets!

It was so interesting to take a closer look at how the drivers’ helmets have changed over the years as well as getting to really examine the race suits drivers compete in. There were also lots of interactive videos in this room depicting clips from historical championship duels as well as interviews with some current F1 drivers and their families.

Fallen Heroes

This area is dedicated to all of the courageous and talented drivers who tragically lost their lives while competing in the sport they loved. It was a very somber room, but also extremely interesting to gain a better understanding of the importance of the safety precautions that have since been implemented to make the sport slightly less dangerous.

Survival

This room was very special as well as it shows parts of Romain Grosjean’s car from his near death crash that took place in 2020.

Despite the display of the burnt, broken in half car, there was also a multi-screen installation that featured footage from the crash as well as unseen interviews from other F1 personalities.

The Pit Wall

This is the final room within the exhibit that features a multi-screen, 6 minute video edit of Formula 1 footage throughout the years. It was an exciting way to end the exhibit as it tied everything together that ticket holders had just learned about.

Final Thoughts

At the end of the exhibit, there is a mini merchandise store where fans can purchase old and new Formula 1 inspired items.

I would highly recommend checking out the Toronto Formula 1 Exhibit as it is a great way to learn more about the sport and get a glimpse inside the elements of F1 that people don’t normally have a chance to experience.
