IndyCar Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg: Seating Guide

Welcome to the IndyCar Season opener on the streets of St Petersburg- one of the most highly attended races of the year, on the beautiful Florida shoreline!

Our team has created a comprehensive guide to help you decide which seating option is best for YOU at St Pete, to ensure that you make the most out of your race experience!

Seating Guide Notes:
  • All photos are taken from the center of the Grandstand in Row 10
  • There are 2 types of tickets sold - Upper Row and Lower Row for each grandstand. The primary difference is the presence of catch fencing in your view.

Before we jump in, check out our other IndyCar Resources INCLUDING a ticket guide!

Grandstands

Turn 1 Grandstand

Big Screen: Yes, but far away and at an angle. There are speakers
Covered: No
Numbered Seating: Yes
St Petersburg Turn 1 Grandstand
St Petersburg Turn 1 Grandstand

The Turn 1 Grandstand is located at the end of the start/finish straight as the cars come SPEEDING down towards the first of many twists and turns of the track. It is also located directly adjacent to the Support Series Paddock, so you'll be able to see IndyNXT teams, drivers, and cars getting ready for their sessions! If you're sitting in the right side of the grandstand, you will have a direct view of the cars coming down the straight, but lose them before they enter Turn 2. Vice versa, if you're sitting in the left side of the grandstand, you'll have a view of the cars into Turn 1 AND Turn 2.

In order to get to the Turn 1 Grandstand, you will want to enter the gates near the paddock area and follow a walking path for about 5-10 minutes to a bridge next to your grandstand! Note that Turn 1 is the furthest away from the Fan Experience, food, drink, and restrooms, but it'll only add on a few minute walk to get to them!

Turn 10 Grandstand

Big Screen: Yes
Covered: No
Numbered Seating: Yes

The Turn 10 Grandstand is located adjacent to the pit lane (including all of the grandstands) and Fan Experience. You will have a view of the cars speeding down the long straight along the marina into Turn 10 - including the heavily used runoff area (the past few races, many cars have gone off the track in this area). This is -in my opinion- the best grandstand to sit in at St Pete for this exact reason. You will likely be able to see action, but you also have a beautiful view of the marina to enjoy as the backdrop to your race.

In order to get to the Turn 10 Grandstand, you will want to enter the gates near the paddock area and follow a walking path for about 2-3 minutes to your grandstand! The Fan experience with food, beverage, and restrooms are directly behind the grandstand!

Pit Lane Grandstands (PL3-PL6)

Big Screen: Yes
Covered: No
Numbered Seating: Yes

Let's talk about the Pit Lane (PL) Grandstands. They're exactly what it sounds like, a series of connected grandstands along the pit lanes with a view of the Start/Finish Straight and pits. While you will have a great view of the pits and pit stops (behind the scenes look, of sorts), you will only be able to see the straight in front of you when it comes to the actual race. If being as close as possible to the cars without buying a pit or paddock ticket is your priority, these are the seats for you.

In order to get to the PL3-6 Grandstands, you will want to enter the gates near the paddock area and follow a walking path for about 2-3 minutes to your grandstand! The Fan experience with food, beverage, and restrooms are directly behind the grandstand!

Pit Lane Grandstand 7 (PL7)

Big Screen: Yes
Covered: No
Numbered Seating: Yes

St Petersburg PL7 Grandstand (View of Turn 1)

It's important to note that the Pit Lane Grandstand 7 is a bit separate from the PL3-PL6 Grandstands. You will have the exact same view as described above, BUT what sets this grandstand apart is the Pit Box you will be directly behind are the top 3 finishers from the IndyCar Season Prior. So, at this race, the 3 boxes in front of PL7 were Alex Palou, Scott McLaughlin, and Josef Newgarden! ADDITIONALLY, if you're in the final seats of the grandstand (on the right side), you may have a view of Turn 1 - although slightly obstructed.

In order to get to the PL7 Grandstand, you will want to enter the gates near the paddock area and follow a walking path for about 5 minutes to your grandstand! You need to cross over the 'street' that the cars use to be wheeled from the paddock. The Fan experience with food, beverage, and restrooms are adjacent to the grandstand!

**NOTE if you are trying to get to PL7, you should time yourself so that you're not going when cars and drivers are being brought to the grid or you will be stuck for at least 20 minutes before being allowed to cross over.**

General Admission

*General Admission is nearly everywhere around the circuit on the map other than paddock/pits*

General Admission Notes

As a general admission ticketholder, you have access to a TON of viewpoints around the circuit... honestly nearly EVERY viewpoint on the circuit. These tickets do NOT have reserved seating or specific sections that you can visit. There is little to no coverage from the sun anywhere around the track. That being said, you have enough freedom that you may be able to find shade, or head over to the concessions for shade. You can sit or stand during any of the sessions and have access to large GA areas (I.e. the Speed Zone, Pioneer Park, or along the Media Center) or you could choose to stand near a grandstand itself.

In order to access screens and speakers, you should choose a General Admission section near a grandstand (locations denoted above). There are concessions and restrooms all over the track, so you will likely be able to avoid very long lines for both. Additionally, the pedestrian walkways are easy to access

Ultra Party Pit

Big Screen: Yes
Covered: No
Numbered Seating: No

St Petersburg Ultra Party Pit

The Ultra Party Pit is a special general admission ticket that has been a fan favorite at St Pete to watch the race. You are attached to the Pit Lane Grandstands (PL3, specifically), so you will have a direct view of the last few pit boxes (this year it was David Malukas, Marcus Armstrong, and a few other drivers who were new or switched teams). What makes this general admission option stand out, though is that the party pit serves as a trackside beer garden!
