We are back at the Shanghai International Circuit for the Chinese Grand Prix! Following the excitement from the season opener in Melbourne, the Chinese Grand Prix is sure to bring an action-filled weekend as this will be the first sprint format weekend of the year.
This year, the Grand Prix will run from Thursday, March 20th to Sunday, March 23rd 2025.

Checkered Flag Carnival 2025
When: Sunday, March 16th to Sunday, March 23rd, 2025

The Checkered Flag Festival was introduced to the Chinese Grand Prix for the first time in 2024. DJ Martin Garrix took to the stage and the event was a major success with tickets selling out rapidly.
In 2025, the Checkered Flag Festival will be held from March 16th to March 23rd at the North Bund International Passenger Center Cruise Terminal and the Shanghai International Circuit. This free fan event will run for eight days long, allowing fans to immerse themselves in the excitement of the race weekend. Attendees can expect a 600 meter-long Formula 1 themed walkway along the riverside. Since this event is taking place during the first race of the Formula 1 season, the Australian Grand Prix, fans will have the chance to watch live broadcasts of the race to ensure they stay tuned into all the excitement going on in Melbourne.
The event will also have live music performances all week long at the ‘dual-scene’ stage, guest appearances by Zhou Guanyu, and even a pet-friendly theme day where all furry friends are welcome!
This carnival is filled with fun for people of all ages! There are countless activities, events and performances and more to keep fans busy the week leading up to the Chinese Grand Prix.
The Bund
The Bund is an iconic waterfront area in downtown Shanghai. The infamous riverfront boardwalk is one of the most picturesque places to see the Shanghai skyline from and take in the beauty of the city. To immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the Bund area, there are options for self-guided walking tours and boat tours that are available during the day or night on certain sections of the river.
The Bund is where the Checkered Flag Carnival is set to take place for the 2025 Chinese Grand Prix.
Shanghai Tower
The Shanghai Tower is one of the most popular things to do in Shanghai when visiting for the Grand Prix. Completed in 2015, the Shanghai Tower was officially opened in 2016 and is now the third tallest building in the world after the Burj Khalifa and the Warisan Merdeka Tower.
Within the tower, there are nine different indoor zones that offer gorgeous panoramic views of the city for any onlookers. Not only is the view gorgeous from the top of the tower, but visitors can also expect a restaurant and swimming pool. There are a variety of ticket packages available for purchase. With the numerous rooms and activities, the options for exploring the Shanghai Tower are endless.

50 Moganshan Lu
50 Moganshan Road, also known as M50, is a contemporary art district located in Shanghai. If you’re heading to Shanghai for the Chinese Grand Prix, 50 Moganshan Lu is a must-see neighbourhood. The community houses over one hundred different artists who keep their studios all open to the public. This neighborhood has been compared to New York’s SoHo and Beijing’s 798 Art Zone.
Although this area is purely just a neighborhood, it has become a popular tourist attraction as there is a variety of things to do and see. There are about 120 galleries and art studios within the vicinity, hosting some of Shanghai’s most prominent artists.
