Norris takes pole in Qatar for the Sprint Race on Saturday

Since the Qatar race weekend is a sprint format, the drivers only had one practice session ahead of the Sprint Qualifying. Find out what happened in the session and who claimed pole for the sprint on Saturday

Charles Leclerc topped FP1 ahead of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri
The drivers had to use medium tires for SQ1
Ferrari and McLaren are looking like the strongest teams out on track
- They are separated by 24 points in the constructors championship with only two races left in the season
Esteban Ocon had troubles in FP1 and struggled in SQ1
- He was eliminated early and will start the Grand Prix in P18
Franco Colapinto is running and earlier spec of his Williams car following his recent crashes in Brazil and Las Vegas
- Colapinto will start in P20 on the grid
Sergio Perez has been struggling this entire season and unfortunately his woes continue
- The Mexican driver was eliminated from SQ1 and will start the sprint in P16
Lando Norris topped the session in SQ1 with a very impressive time
Oscar Piastri was struggling in SQ2 and had a lap time deleted due to exceeding track limits
- He continued to push the limits and almost went out of bounds again on his final flying lap of SQ2
Alex Albon was looking to be in better form than he was in Las Vegas
- He put his Williams in P12 for the sprint race
Both of the Aston Martin drivers were eliminated in SQ2
- Fernando Alonso finished in P11
- Lance Stroll finished in P14
Kevein Magnussen was out-qualified by his teammate, Nico Hulkenberg
- Magnussen finished the session in P15
- Hulkenberg finished sprint qualifying in P9
Liam Lawson made it into SQ3 and out-qualified his teammate, Yuki Tsunoda
The drivers all switched to soft tires for the final stint of this qualifying session (SQ3)
Liam Lawson had his final lap time deleted after exceeding track limits
- This put him in P10 behind Nico Hulkenberg
Lando Norris claimed pole position ahead of George Russell and Oscar Piastri
