The race was anything but boring! Find out how the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix played out
It's time for the iconic Monaco Grand Prix! Find out if the home hero, Charles Leclerc, was able to secure his first win at home:
- There was lap 1 CHAOS with Kevin Magnussen going into the side of Sergio Perez causing damage to both cars and unfortunately taking out his teammate, Nico Hulkenberg
- This incident brought out the red flag which resulted in a standing race re-start
- Carlos Sainz got a puncture on the first lap from making contact with Oscar Piastri, but because of the race re-start, he was able to regain his third place position on the grid
- Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly had contact on lap one as well which resulted in Ocon needing to retire from the race
- Following the incident, the Alpine team principal stated that "There will be consequences, we're going to make a tough decision."
- Kevin Magnussen, Nico Hulkenberg, Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon all had to retire from the race because of the lap 1 incidents
- Most of the drivers put on the hard tires after the race re-start to try and eliminate the need to pit
- Despite the dramatic first lap, the race didn't have any other incidents and most of the drivers held their position
- Charles Leclerc finally claimed a home victory in Monaco ahead of Oscar Piastri and his teammate, Carlos Sainz
