QIA to buy 30% stake in Audi team

The Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) is set to purchase a 30% stake in the Audi F1 team, which currently competes as Sauber. Sky News reports that the deal, valued at hundreds of millions of dollars, will be announced ahead of the 2024 Qatar Grand Prix. Sauber is yet to score any points this season and has been targeted by QIA for its growth potential in F1. This investment would mark Qatar’s first major motorsport move, following its acquisition of Paris Saint-Germain and the 10-year deal to host the Qatar Grand Prix through 2033.

Who's getting fired next at FIA?

Sainz set for early Williams debut after Abu Dhabi GP

Carlos Sainz will make an earlier-than-expected debut with Williams after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix instead of the planned post-season test. Ferrari allowed him to participate, despite his contract running until December 31. He will only drive 200 kilometers, but this will help him get comfortable in the car before the full test. Ferrari also wanted Lewis Hamilton to replace Sainz, but a sponsor commitment kept him from joining, so Hamilton’s first run with Ferrari will be in January.
