Pirelli announces 2024 tire shake-up

Pirelli has announced a significant change to its 2024 Formula 1 tire options by eliminating the P0 compound, confirming that no new compounds will be introduced for the season. The decision comes after the introduction of the C1 compound in 2023 to address performance differences between the C1 and C2 compounds. The P0 compound, tested but unused in Grand Prix weekends, will be dropped, reverting the 2024 range to five compounds, with C1 as the hardest and C5 as the softest. Pirelli's Head of Motorsport, Mario Isola, revealed that there will be no new compounds to try during the 2024 test day, emphasizing the elimination of the C0 compound from the options.

However, Brundle expects Piastri to improve with experience, praising his speed and predicting future success. Brundle also commented on Max Verstappen's penalty in the Las Vegas Grand Prix, expressing surprise at the leniency given the circumstances, including a safety car and Leclerc repassing Verstappen. The race saw significant contact, including an audacious move by Verstappen on George Russell and a late overtaking maneuver by Leclerc on Sergio Perez, securing Red Bull's first-ever one-two in the drivers' championship.
