Pirelli anticipates challenging tire conditions
Pirelli expects today's Hungarian Grand Prix to present a challenge for strategists as they balance softer tire compounds against aggressive track heat and degradation. The two-stop strategy seems to be the fastest approach, with options to start on medium and switch to two sets of hard compounds, or start on medium and switch back again after a middle stint on hards. Other strategies, such as a three-stop, are viable but unlikely due to factors such as the difficulty of overtaking on the twisty Hungaroring. Drivers have different tire allocations based on their qualifying performance, with some having a fresh set of soft tires for a potential advantage. The C5 compound is expected to provide a higher grip and could be utilized by drivers in one of their stints.

Perez's crash exposes Red Bull's floor changes
In May, Sergio Perez's Monaco Grand Prix qualifying accident resulted in his RB19 car being lifted to give photographers a clear view of its underside, providing rival teams a chance to understand Red Bull's floor design. After a crash in Hungary, the car was shown off again, revealing specific tweaks to the floor edge detail due to revisions made to its sidepods, extracting more local load. The design feature of adding strakes to the rear portion of the edge wing for directing airflow was also seen on Lewis Hamilton's W14 after his Monaco practice crash. The question remains whether Red Bull's interest in this direction was sparked by the Mercedes design or already in the works. The convergence of design pathways among teams is always fascinating.

Ricciardo’s path back on the bull
Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner stated that Sergio Perez has a two-year contract until the end of the 2024 F1 season, making him the current driver for the team. To replace Perez in the future, Daniel Ricciardo must excel and prove himself as the best driver for the team, but the decision for the 2025 season is still far away. Ricciardo made a positive impression by out-qualifying his teammate and adapting well to the team, and Horner believes that Ricciardo's enjoyment of driving will lead to better performance.
