How Mercedes failed to exploit rule changes it pushed for

Mercedes raised their car's floor edge by 15mm to address porpoising issues in F1's new ground-effect regulations for 2022. Despite improvements, the problem briefly resurfaced at the Belgian Grand Prix. Mercedes debated whether to lower the car by cashing in the 15mm, opting for caution, but technical director Allison now acknowledges they missed potential gains, as the rules didn't reward downforce high up, and they could have benefited by lowering the car earlier.

Ferrari's biopic set to hit the cinemas

Adam Driver stars as Enzo Ferrari in Michael Mann's long-awaited biopic "Ferrari," set for release this Christmas. The film, based on Brock Yates' book "Enzo Ferrari: The Man and the Machine," revolves around the racing car mogul's struggles during the summer of 1957, touching on bankruptcy, a tumultuous marriage, and a risky wager on the iconic Mille Miglia race. The star-studded cast includes Penélope Cruz, Patrick Dempsey, Shailene Woodley, and Jack O’Connell. The trailer, released in August, garnered attention with a six-minute standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival. The UK cinema release is scheduled for Boxing Day, December 26, with a Sky Movies premiere in 2024.

Why Pirelli will never stop working

The 2023 Formula 1 season posed challenges for Pirelli, including the aborted attempt to introduce no-blanket slicks for 2024. Despite this, the company successfully addressed issues like overheating and introduced innovations, such as a new wet tire. Efforts to enhance sustainability with alternative tire allocation were rejected, but valuable R&D work for 2025 continued. Pirelli's commitment to F1, marked by winning the 2025-‘27 contract, reflects its flexibility and dedication to meeting the sport's evolving needs, including sustainability initiatives and ongoing tire development.

What's your all-time favorite Christmas movie?

What's your all-time favorite Christmas movie? It might seem like an easy question, but the Mercedes F1 team had to give it some thought. George Russell picked Home Alone, Lewis Hamilton preferred Trading Places, and others went for movies like Fred Claus, Die Hard, Elf, The Holiday, Love Actually, and more.

Wrap battle with McLaren

McLaren gave Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri some uniquely shaped gifts to test their holiday wrapping abilities. Norris acknowledged that wrapping Christmas presents isn't the easiest for him, noting that he's not great at it. The duo started with a small toy MCL60 car and talked about the holiday season while wrapping other gifts.
