Norris claimed pole ahead of championship leader Verstappen after Carlos Sainz brought out the Red Flag in Q3
The drivers battled it out on track to take pole under the lights in Singapore. See what happened in the qualifying session and who was able to claim pole:
- Q1 saw the elimination of both Sauber drivers with Guanyu Zhou finishing in P20 and Valtteri Bottas finishing in P19
- Lance Stroll had a tough qualifying and was only able to put his Aston Martin in P17 for the Grand Prix on Sunday
- Pierre Gasly was out-qualified by his teammate, Esteban Ocon
- Gasly will start in P18 and Ocon will start in P15
- Daniel Ricciardo has been the center of attention this weekend as there has been tons of speculation about his future
- Unfortunately, he was only able to put his RB in P16 on the grid for the Grand Prix which isn't make a very convincing argument for why he should keep his seat
- Yuki Tsunoda out-qualified Ricciardo and will start in P8 on the grid
- Both of the Williams drivers narrowly missed out on Q3 after both of them feeling like they didn't make the most of their tire usage
- Alex Albon will start in P11 and Franco Colapinto will start in P12
- Sergio Perez had another terrible qualifying session and was only able to put his Red Bull in P13
- Nico Hulkenberg out-qualified his teammate and will start in P6 on the grid while Kevin Magnussen will start in P14
- Carlos Sainz brought out the red flag in Q3 after he crashed into the tech-pro barriers at the final turn
- Charles Leclerc's time was deleted, he will start the Grand Prix in P9
- Nico Hulkenberg achieved his highest ever qualifying position in P6
- Lando Norris claimed pole position ahead of Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton
